It’s been around 3 months since I last wrote a little update about what’s going on with the site. Since then the it has blossomed nicely and helped some people find lots of amazing live music. From the last update on the 28th of July we have promoted 237 gigs across those 95 days. That’s over 2.5 gigs every single day. 96% of which are unique artists. Incredible.

As of today the site has 108 gigs on it for the coming month. Below are the main updates to the site that I have made:

New Venues! – Introducing The Peer Hat & AATMA

Two Mancunian staples hosting the biggest variety of new and interesting acts, I am really happy to be adding The Peer Hat and AATMA to the Gigmouths supported venues. From the 1st of November onwards, all the events here satisfying the £15 limit will be published onto the site.

I am aware there are still lots of venues that need to be added to make the site a fully comprehensive guide to grassroots music, but I will be adding these as the site grows and develops.

Artist Spotify Button

On the Gig Details pages (Accessible by clicking on one of the gigs from Gig Search, Gig Calendar or Gig List) you will notice there is now a Spotify button underneath the “Tickets” header. This links directly to the Spotify page of the artist you are looking at.

This gives you a better idea of what the artist sounds like, and what to expect from the gig. Useful if you’re taking a chance on a random gig.

Over 100 followers on Twitter

It may not seem like much, but its a milestone nonetheless and one I’m proud of. So thank you so much to everyone who followed the account.

For anyone who doesn’t follow the account, I tweet everyday at 12:00PM to let you know who is playing on that day. You can find the twitter here: https://twitter.com/gigmouths

Future Projects

Although the time I have to work on the site has reduced due to other commitments, I am still constantly working on improving the site in little and large ways. There are constant little aesthetic and quality of life changes happening that I will not document here.

As for larger changes, here are a few in development:

  • Filtering by Genre
  • Searching an artists name brings up gigs they are supporting as well as headlining. (Currently only shows up if they’re headlining)
  • More venues

Summary

I would like to again thank everyone who has used my site or has helped me improve it by suggesting great ideas. It has come quite a long way over the last few months and I hope it will continue to grow and help even more people discover amazing live music across Manchester.
